B&H or Olympus, same offer likely available elsewhere. The M-1 is being replaced by the $2,000 M-1 Mark II, which has more megapixels and various other upgrades. But for $1,300 you're getting a lens with a list price of about $1,000 (I got mine used for about $620). It's one of Olympus's highest-grade lenses, and I'm impressed by it. Because of the small sensor and its geometry, the field of view for the lens is equivalent to 24-80 mm with a full-sized dslr camera. This is an easier camera to carry around than a full-sized one, and is reasonably weatherproof. So is the lens. It's an adequate but not outstanding video camera. Panasonic (same lens mount) has a better video reputation. This camera should work very well with two new super telephotos: Panasonic's new 100-400 mm zoom apparently works very well with the Olympus. Olympus's new 300 mm lens is not yet readily available in the US (it can be ordered through Amazon), but it may be the best lens Olympus has ever sold. Panasonic has some deals of its own. I tried Olympus for a while Omd 5 Mark 2 and went back to Canon. Dont get me wrong, its an incredible camera and the pics are insanely sharp. Its also half the size of a Canon. I went back to Canon as the shots feel more natural to me and the raw files have way more data to play with. I love Canon... |

Those full-size sensors offer all sorts of opportunities the little ones don't. The tradeoff is camera size and speed of operation. I can make images that print well at 13 x 19", probably not much bigger. Edited: 11/29/2016 at 09:17 PM by ww |

Olympus is offering OM-D E-M1 (the old version) and the OM-D E-M5 II (new version, apparently soon to be replaced), refurbished, body only, for about $600. The 5 has better video capability. Some decent deals on lenses, and plenty are available used. |
