Sebastian Inlet Surfrider will be supporting a Beach Cleanup at Spanish House on Saturday, March 26, from 9am to 12pm.  There will be some give-away's for people that help clean up. Tuesday, March 22 was World Water Day, so we will be tying our cause to the support of that event. Discussion

The project explores the largely untold story of the real “Gidget,” Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, and how her account of surfing Malibu in the mid-50’s became the basis for a best-selling novel by her father Frederick Kohner.

The fry will be behind Balsa Bills.  I went to the last Fry and it is cool to not only be able to check out the boards, but be told to take em out.  Since the fry will be at Bill's, expect some longboards too.  Maybe even a Balsa???

I want to sign up just to get the cool shirt with graphics by Nemo.  All proceeds will be going to the Sea Turtle Preservation Society. 

The fifth annual Smiley Riley's Beach Bash will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the north end of Shepherd Park in Cocoa Beach.

The beach bash is a learn-to-surf day for Brevard County kids who have Down syndrome (and for their siblings, too). Each child is given a commemorative T-shirt. Food is available to the families.

This documentary looks at a unique Mexican Orphanage and  the unique surf community that they have pioneered in Tapachula, a coastal city with no other wave riders. "To these kids the ocean is not just a place of fun, its an escape from what life used to be."

This is the 2nd annual plant sale to help raise money for to purchase materials not covered by landscape grants. Help support the landscaping by buying Mom a plant for Mother's day. Saturday: Benefit for Jeff Willoughby who is well know in the surf community.  He is undergoing Chemo/Radiation and needs the communities' help.

Sunday:
Local shaper Joe Shriver, passed away last Thursday.  He was a long time East Coast shaper and well known in the surfing community.  Jay and his family are going to have a memorial at the Indiatlantic boardwalk this Sunday at 2:00pm.  All people are welcome to show up with their Shriver Shapes!

The Expo will be held next weekend, April 17th and 18th   from 10am-5pm both days.  It will feature some of the best surfboard designers, shapers and artists in the country including world renowned surfboard artist, Drew Brophy and nationally recognized local shaper, Ricky Carroll. Exhibitors of surfboards, fins, surf accessories, StandUpPaddle and other action sports products will be in attendance.

The event is open to the public.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation and the Cocoa Beach High Surf Team.

 Admission is $5.00 for adults, children under 10 are free.  Price includes (1) raffle ticket for giveaways.  Additional raffle tickets and Expo t-shirts can be purchased at the event.
